My 6 year old seeks a lot of vestibular input.
Whoa, big word alert. No need to do a dictionary search; it simply means that she has a need to move - run, jump, swing, bounce.
Which is all just fine...except during those stuck-in-the-house days, especially the never-felt-so-long-in-my-life winter ones!
When she was a little younger I used to let her jump on the couch. Her grandmother was scandalized, but she needed to move and it did just the trick. Now she's a bit too big and a bit too much of a daredevil for that.
But this winter, we're ready. We've got toys new and old that will help her expend some energy and keep her occupied, at least for a little while. (I'll take what I can get!)
Snowed-in winter days? Bring 'em on!
How do you cope with stuck-in-the-house days? (I can always use new ideas!)
