Kay, like most kids her age, learn best when it's something hands-on and presented in a fun way. I love this idea from I Can Teach My Child because it's active and a learning activity, all in one.
The set-up is simple - write the sight words you want to practice on paper, any shape will do, and then tape them to the wall. Then comes the fun part.
We tooks turns playing. I would say a word and she would throw the ball at it; then she would say a word and I'd have to take a toss. It's a great exercise in hand-eye coordination on top of everything else!
I left this hanging in the hall for a few days and she kept going back to it.
Switch it up!
You could also use this for practicing recognition of numbers, letters, colors, shapes. For younger kids you could make the targets a bit bigger so they don't get too frustrated.
