I have the most exciting news ever to share with you. (Can you tell I'm just a teensy bit excited?)
I got to participate in a new book, 99 Fine Motor Ideas, written by some of my favorite activity bloggers and filled with fun, doable ideas for honing fine motor skills in toddlers and preschoolers. That's right - I'm an author! My very dream since I first learned how to write and made up stories in elementary school. Somebody pinch me.
Okay, great, you must be thinking. But what do I care?
As if I would leave you out!
One of the main conversations when developing this book was how to make it accessible to the average parent or caregiver. That means, doesn't cost a fortune. This book is available as an e-book, for Kindle, and in print, so you can even have a physical, in-your-hands copy if you so choose (that's usually my preference!). Designed by Nicolette Roux (also a co-author), it's easy and enjoyable to read, and separated into sections like "DIY toys" and "Holidays and seasons".
Note to my friends and family: guess what you're all getting this year for Christmas, whether you have young children or not? ;)

And just to give you a sneak preview of what you'll find in the book, all the co-hosts of Fine Motor Friday are doing an activity from it. We did DIY crayon rubbing plates, from Dyan of And Next Comes L. These are really easy to make.
We did ours a little differently - we used glitter glue (we do love our glitter!) and I wrote a few sight words on pieces of cardboard. When they were dry, Kay (and, yes, me, too!) used them and they worked wonderfully.
With a little drawing skill (or some tracing) the sky is the limit with these things - letters, spelling words, shapes, holiday images...you name it!

Check out what my co-hosts (and co-authors - love saying that!) are sharing this week and follow along on Pinterest for all the latest.
