Puppets are a great way to spark imagination. Kay will take almost anything we make and turn them into puppets (minion clothespins, cardboard tube turkeys, you name it!). The stories she comes up with are better than anything any children's book author could come up with.
(Psst...stay tuned for a major giveaway featuring HABA and many others coming Nov. 2. Trust me, you won't want to miss it!)
I had made a simple cardboard box puppet theater for Kay a few years ago. She used it for a long time, but it was also an issue for her that it didn't have a curtain. Fortunately, this one from HABA has a curtain, so as far as she's concerned, it was a winner from the start!
I liked that it was super-easy to hang up. And the porthole at the top was a great touch!
Warning: Don't judge by my photos! We hung it up downstairs where light is scarce (not a great choice on my part, I admit).
HABA sells some adorable puppets (check out Monster Momo!) but fortunately, even the least crafty among us can turn out some pretty great homemade versions as well. Here are some easy ideas to get you inspired. Still stuck? Turn to the kids - they're full of ideas (some that even make sense...!)
Are puppets popular in your house, too?
