Sometimes the activities we do are intentional. And sometimes it's more along the lines of, "Mommy needs to sit. Here's the first things I grabbed - have fun!"
This particular one was of the latter variety.
- Pool noodle chunks (we also use them as building blocks!)
- Pony beads
- Pipe cleaners
When Kay is in the right mood, she loves things like this. Fortunately, the timing was right on this day. It's a very open-ended activity - there's no right way to do it. I imagined adding layers - a pool noodle block, some pipe cleaners, then another block - but, as usual, she went her own way with it.
Aside from all the creative thinking, this was a great one for fine motor skills (all that threading and poking - perfect!). But Kay didn't know any of that. She was just having good old fashioned fun.
Aside from taking a few photos (because that's what I do!) I spent the time relaxing on the couch while she tinkered. Happy kid, relaxed mom...if that's not a win, I don't know what is!
