This year, on the day of our town's annual holiday parade, our family started a new tradition. We got in the car as a family that morning and headed to a new location in our area, the Philly Pretzel Factory.
The Philly Pretzel Factory sells Philadelphia-style soft pretzels and dips as well as sandwiches and drinks. (Side note: I love that they cook the sandwiches on the spot when you order them!) They also have party trays and, if you order ahead, they'll make you a personalized pretzel in any shape you want. (I so want to try that!)
The smell when you walk in is all deliciousness! It's a small place, but the options are many. We were pretty obviously first time customers because the woman working at the counter smiled kindly and asked, "First time?" She helped us out by going over the options, but it was a little hard to concentrate with Kay in front of me whispering, "That one...I want that one...it's huge...that one!"
She eventually did get "that one" - a long twisted pretzel that tasted just heavenly. It was so big that she even shared it, however reluctantly. We also got a box of "rivets" (little pretzel knobs that comes with a dip - we got cinnamon) to share with her friends on her school's float.
Our verdict? My husband said that they were good, and "more filling than those mall pretzels; these weren't all air." From him, that's practically a raving review. I love all things bread-like, so I was in from the beginning. And Kay couldn't keep her hands off it. We sent her off to be in the parade with a full tummy and a smile on her face.
They have several locations (more than 100 so far!) and more are opening soon, so if there isn't one near you yet, don't give up hope.
Kay is already planning when she wants to get next time she goes, and even my husband (who is typically super-picky!) wants to get back there to try the sandwiches. Looks like we'll be making another visit WAY before next year's parade!
