I'm not someone who will spend half an hour making food look fun. Sure, I love the cute ideas on Pinterest as much as the next gal; I'm just not willing to give up so much time to it.
I think that's part of why I love these hot dog cars so much - it literally took me all of 5 minutes to put together, from start to finish. (The other part I love is that they're yummy!)

Recently we went to the home improvement store because Kay wanted to build a bird house. We ended up leaving with a race car building kit. This girl loves all things cars. So I knew a car-themed lunch would be a big hit. (So love when I'm right!)
What I used:
- Hot dog buns
- Smart Dogs from Lightlife
- Skewer sticks
The most work of this whole thing was searching through the cabinet for tooth picks, finally admitting to myself we didn't have any, and settling for skewer sticks that I trimmed down with scissors. The rest was easy. Push the tooth pick (or skewer, in my case) through the bun in the front and the pack and add pickles for the wheels (bonus points if you search through the pickle jar to find the round-ish ones!).
Then lay that hot dog inside and add condiments of choice. Expect a few "vroom, vrooms" before it gets eaten!
Lightlife Smart Dogs are meatless hot dogs and can be grilled, fried or boiled. Kay is very picky lately, but even she loved these - I can't give them better praise than that!
