Easy Bird's Nest Craft

I love seeing the birds start to build their nests each spring, and it never fails to fascinate me how they manage to do such a great job. This easy craft would be one way to broach the topic of birds and where they live.
Bird's Nest Spring Craft | P is for Preschooler
When I got a package in the mail with this wonderful packing material, I knew we had to use it for *something*. At one point I just left it out and Kay played with it like it was spaghetti and tried to pick it up with her own version of chopsticks. But I quickly saw that this kind of play got the little crinkled paper everywhere (you'll see it in the background here and there if you look closely at pictures taken in the days following!).

So, it's Spring (almost), and we're thinking gardening and flowers and birds...yes! A bird nest. Perfect!

What we used:
Crinkle paper (could be replaced with tissue paper, construction paper squares, shredded paper, feathers...)
  Glue
  Brown construction paper

We cut out a rough bird's nest shape, slathered on the glue (key word: slathered!) and sprinkled the crinkly paper on top. (To my surprise, this stuff is actually called crinkle paper! You can also get it in craft supply stores.)

If I may say so, these would go perfectly with this spring chick craft...or maybe our owls would like to live here?

What a great fun and creative activity! I plan on trying new things like this with my boys as they get older and this looks like it would be so much fun! You could even cut out egg shapes so you can add eggs to the nest!

Such a fun idea! We have been seeing a lot of birds lately and Ethan has been talking about them constantly. This is a great activity for us to do :)

That's so creative! What a fun Easter craft for kiddos; they could color eggs and put them in the nest. :)

I love this idea -- it's been a while since I've seen this in my boxes, but I think I could pick up some colored shredded paper at the Dollar Tree.

Great to see you linking this up at The Thoughtful Spot!

I really like how the crinkle paper looks! It would be fun to use spring colors too and mix it up.
