I'm so excited to share with you this new project we've been working on. It's all about kindness!
Kay and I have been working on focusing our attention on performing random acts of kindness.
(Correction: When I say "Kay and I", I really mean I've been doing it and she begrudgingly assists at times. She still struggles with the whole giving thing sometimes!)
One of the ideas we've been doing was inspired by a Pinterest post suggesting leaving small bottles of bubbles for kids to find at the playground. I just LOVED that idea! So we've been doing a spin on that - leaving fun toys in places around our favorite playground for children to find as they play.
As I could have predicted, Kay was not overly enthusiastic about leaving things for other kids to find. She's more of a keeper than a sharer. But I emphasized that these were mine, and that I wasn't about to break into her dino collection, so she seemed a bit better with the whole idea.
My favorite part is when we get to see the dinosaurs find their new homes. The first time 2 kids find one of the dinosaurs while we were still at the park playing. They were probably about Kay's age, so they could read the note that went with it. We saw one of them stop and crouch to look at the dinosaur, pick him up to read the note, and then pass him to the other child. Then they ran back to the mother saying, "I saw it first!"
Kay was tempted to go and tell them she had hid it, but I wanted this to be random kindness - no reward, no expectation of a reward.
It's something we have fun with. Well, I have fun and Kay seems to enjoy it, too. At least a little bit!
I even made a printable that you can use, too. Let's spread kindness around!
