I bought contact paper for the first time at the craft store (while stocking up for those stuck-in-the-house winter days). Since Kay had obviously never used it either, I wanted our first activity with it to be simple - like a collage! I went through our 'collage bag' (which is just bits of everything left over from other projects that I throw together in one place) and seperated the autumn-ish colors. I left them in a small bowl, with the contact paper taped with packing tape to the table, sticky side up. She was intrigued with this new material, and liked the feel of laying her hand on it and then trying to lift it back up again. Then, to work.
She stuck things down randomly, almost half-heartedly, and was soon done. I lay another piece of contact paper over it and viola! As I was marveling over how pretty it would look if we hung it in the window for the sun to go through it, she asked, "Can I have some more sticky stuff to play with?" :)
