Pom Pom Races

Pom Pom Races | P is for Preschooler
This is a fun, quick and easy activity using two things you likely already have in your house: straws and pom poms. Kay and I had pom pom races, blowing in the straw to move the pom poms to the finish line. Not to brag, but I won most of the races. I can't brag because I only won due to the competition being unable to stop giggling.

Then she wanted to blow the pom pom through the "tunnel" (paper towel roll). This was a good idea to me because it kept her busy (and quiet) for a while (bonus!) I always know it's a success when she asks for it again and she did...the very next day!

Um, yeah, I'd say she liked it!

This looks like so much fun, not to mention the sensory input involved! Love!

Adding the paper towel tunnel is a great idea! I recently had a pom pom race by putting tape on the floor for lanes and using turkey basters with various size pom poms to add a little more science into the fun. I had the children to first predict which pom pom would roll faster, the large or small, in which everyone chose the large one. They were surprised to find it to be the small one. Next time we will have a tunnel race!
