I don't remember much about my preschool years, but I remember learning to make ghosts and turkeys by tracing by hand and I remember thinking I was pretty cool to be able to do that! So of course I have to pass on my knowledge - however simplex - to my daughter. This was a simple craft time. She's been having sudden and intense temper tantrums lately, so I've been trying to keep things extra-doable and keeping frustration to a minimum. This one was certainly easy.
I showed her how to place her hand on the paper and I traced around it. She lifted her hand and...there was the ghost outline! I'm glad to say she was just as impressed as I was in my time. :) She loved drawing faces on the ghosts because she's just started drawing faces that actually look like, well, faces. She has yet to master drawing a smile though so even her happy ghost looks unhappy!
Then I left out some orange yarn, Halloween stickers and glue, place a cut-out pumpkin-ish shape that came out very little like a pumpkin.
She squirted glue all over the paper, and dumped the yarn onto the glue in one pile. I got her to help me spread it out, anyway. Then she added a few stickers and was done with that!
